  76. To install, place the disk in the appropriate drive. From the Windows 
  77. Program Manager, select File | Run and type A:SETUP, where "A" is the 
  78. letter of the drive containing the disk. Follow the instructions that
  79. appear on your screen.

  163. LEXIS-NEXIS printer. This popular feature was brought forward from the
  164. CasePull software.

  176. CheckCite 4.20 for Windows is configured to use the LEXIS(R)-NEXIS(R) 
  177. Research Software for Windows, Version 2.8/4.0 (referred to in the remainder 
  178. of this note as the Research Software) for on-line data access.

  180. [2] Communications Configuration
  181.     ----------------------------
  182. Since CheckCite 4.20 for Windows uses the Research Software for on-line 
  183. data access, you must use the Research Software to configure your 
  184. communications setup.  
  185.  
  186. [3] Upgrading from 3.X - Option Sets
  187.     --------------------------------
  188. Old 3.x GLOBAL option sets, stored in CHECKCIT.STD, can be converted to 
  189. 4.x option sets, stored in CHECKCIT.INI, by following these steps.
  190.  
  191.     A] When installing 4.x on top of 3.x:
  192.  
  193.     1] Save the CHECKCIT.STD from the 3.x program directory to a safe 
  194.        location.  
  195.     2] Install 4.x on top of the old 3.x version.  
  196.     3] Delete CHECKCIT.INI from the program directory before running 
  197.        the program, and copy the saved CHECKCIT.STD to the program 
  198.        directory.  
  199.     4] Administrator runs CheckCite - the program will automatically 
  200.        convert option sets and create CHECKCIT.INI.  There will be a 
  201.        minor, one-time only delay as the conversion takes place.

  203.     B] When installing 4.x to a new location:
  204.  
  205.     1] Install 4.x to new location.  
  206.     2] Copy CHECKCIT.STD from the old 3.x directory to the new 4.x 
  207.        location.  
  208.     3] Delete CHECKCIT.INI from 4.x directory.  
  209.     4] Administrator runs CheckCite - option sets converted.

  211.     C] Personal option sets
  212.  
  213. Old 3.x PERSONAL option sets can be converted.  For each user, the steps 
  214. are as follows:  
  215.  
  216.     1] Copy the users CHEKDEF.XXX file to a safe location.  See the 
  217.        network setup documentation to determine the extension 
  218.        (.XXX = SYS or user id) and location for each users file.  
  219.     2] After installing and running network setup, but before that 
  220.        particular user runs the program, copy the CHEKDEF.XXX file to 
  221.        the original location.  
  222.     3] Run CheckCite - the program will convert the option sets to 
  223.        4.x format in the file CHECKOPT.XXX.

  226. [4] Client Validation
  227.     -----------------
  228. If you would like to run a custom client matter validation program, select
  229. the option from the Research Software User Preferences Setup dialog box and
  230. provide the client program name in the appropriate entry area.

  235. Electronic UPGRADER is not included in this bundled release.

  240. If you are going to convert a document's format prior to running CheckCite
  241. 4.20 for Windows, remember to actually save the document before attempting 
  242. to run CheckCite on that document in the new word processor format.

  247. If you modify a document prior to running CheckCite 4.20 for Windows, 
  248. remember to actually save the document before attempting to run CheckCite
  249. on that document in the new word processor format.

  251. [8] Launching the LEXIS(R)-NEXIS(R) Research Software for Windows
  252.     -------------------------------------------------------------
  253. By default, CheckCite 4.20 now automatically launches the LEXIS(R)-NEXIS(R) 
  254. Research Software for Windows when CheckCite is started.  This helps to 
  255. avoid insufficient memory conditions.  In versions 4.10 and 4.11, 
  256. the -l command line parameter was used for this purpose.  The function of 
  257. that parameter has now been reversed.  When the -l parameter is used on 
  258. the CheckCite command line now , the LEXIS(R)-NEXIS(R) Research Software
  259. Windows will not be automatically launched.

  261. [9] CheckCite Report May Not Confirm Aff'd "In" Cites 
  262.     -------------------------------------------------
  263. When AutoCiting a case whose name begins with the preposition "in", 
  264. CheckCite may not confirm that the case has been affirmed although the 
  265. AutoCite report might clearly indicate that it was.  For example, when
  266. AutoCiting "In re Medomak Canning, 111 B.R. 371, 372 (D. Me. 1990), 
  267. aff'd 922 F.2d 895 (1st Cir. 1990)", the CheckCite report will incorrectly
  268. state that the F.2d is not indicated as aff'd, although it is clearly 
  269. listed under Auto-Cite Reference and Subsequent Appellate History.
